Project Kingfisher, which was part-funded by the European Social Fund, supported environmental vocational skills training in the work place backed up with 'employability' training including computer skills, networking and CV development.

Kingfisher placement project partners were: Dartington Hall Trust, Devon Wildlife Trust, Marine Biological Association, Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, Ambios Environmental Consultants and Exmoor National Park Authority.

All funding opportunities, both short-term 'K3' grants and the nine-month 'K1' Kingfisher placements, are now closed.

The Kingfisher project supported training for those enrolled on the programme until the project end date of October 2007. By the time it closed, the project had supported over 200 individuals. Of the 80 who had been on 9-month placements with the project partners listed above, over 85% have gone on into employment within the environmental/wildlife conservation sector and 7% into other positive outcomes (other jobs, training or travelling).
